Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 4, 2026

This is a draft policy that describes Muse's actual data practices. It has not been reviewed by counsel. Please review before relying on it for a public launch.

What we collect

When you use Muse, we collect and store the following:

How we use it

Your account and writing pieces are stored so you can sign back in and continue working. The text you write — and only the text relevant to your current writing session — is sent to Anthropic's API to generate AI continuations. Anthropic processes your text under their privacy policy and does not retain your inputs for training under their commercial API terms.

Where it lives

Account, profile, and writing data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL). The app itself runs on Vercel, which collects basic, non-PII analytics (page views, referrers) via Vercel Analytics. We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not share your data with third-party advertisers or data brokers.

Cookies

Muse uses functional cookies to keep you signed in (Supabase auth session) and to remember UI preferences (theme, typography) in localStorage. We do not use marketing or tracking cookies.

Your rights

You can export any piece you've written from inside the app (Cmd/Ctrl+E). You can delete individual pieces from the side menu. To delete your entire account and all associated data, sign in and use the “Delete account” option in your profile, or email us at the address below. Account deletion is irreversible.

Retention

We retain your account and writing data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all pieces, profile data, and authentication records are removed within 30 days. Server logs are retained for up to 30 days and then rotated.

Children

Muse is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be highlighted on the sign-in screen.
